| Just found out that there is a new line of WS oils from Royal-Talens (the makers of Van Gogh H2Oils) coming soon - or possibly even available now. They are called Cobra and are artist quality.
Here's the blurb from the website:
The range consists of 70 transparent, semi-transparent, semi-opaque and opaque colours. They all have the highest degree of lightfastness (+++) and under museum conditions remain unchanged for at least 100 years. The range includes 35 mono-pigmented colours (colours in which only one pigment is used, so that when mixing attractive pure colours are created). There are also ten colours based on highly exclusive pigments – such as the cadmiums, cobalts and chromium oxides – and an exceptionally transparent oxide red or yellow.
Here's a link:
http://www.cobra.royal-talens.com/0/home.html
Couldn't really find any more info than what appears on this site. The Talens main website didn't have them listed yet, as far as I could find.

| Thanks for sharing that, Don! Can't wait to give these a try. The "request a sample" is not available yet, will just have to be patient | |

Here's a video that I found on the Royal Talens Cobra Water Mixable Oils: https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1109189187675
Also you can request a sample here: http://www.cobra.royal-talens.com/6.1/request_a_sample.html

| I think it would be great if we all could get some samples and compare notes. | |

| Interesting news, Don. Talens also makes the Rembrandt brand of regular oils which is a not my favorite brand, so I can't help but be underwhelmed about it, but it's still good to see an upgrade from them. | |

| Thanks, Janet, for the link! I just sent off for my sample! So far it looks like they are not available here in the states for purchase....so it may be awhile before major art stores online will carry them....but I'll try the sample...whenever I get it!!! Rosebud | |

| I'm looking forward to giving them a test run. It will be interesting to hear how you like them. That video was interesting. The way she did the watercolor effect with them. I wonder how long that painting would last or maybe it does work with water soluble oils. | |

"Apparently there are some issues with the previously supplied link in order to order a sample. PLease use this link to get to the request form: http://www.cobra.royal-talens.com/6.1/request_a_sample.html "

| I received my email as well. The new link to the request for samples does work for anyone else who would like to request a sample for free. | |

| Hobby Lobby and Michaels are both carrying the complete lines of Royal Talons now, wonder if they will add these when they become available? I was so happy when they added RT's gouache open stock about two months ago. | |

| Kimberly that's great to know. If Michaels ends up carrying it I'll be able to get a hold of that brand much easier then the Holbein.
I did receive my sample which is one tube of the Pyrrole red. I'll probably give it a try some time this month.

| Dana I did receive my sample. It's one tube of Pyrrole Red. It's a beautiful color. I put through my request on May 12th. I'll use this color on the next painting that I'm not using the palette knife for the monthly challenge. | |

| I received my little tube sample of pyyorle red today. It's not really possible to evaluate the whole line from one tube, but I appreciate the gift nonetheless. One thing that I did notice is the return address label read "Canson" who is the US distributor for Royal Talens. That should make it easier for them to get the Cobra line over here soon I hope. I'm interested to see how the other colors behave. | |

| David, I was thinking the same thing about it being difficult to evaluate from one tube. When I can buy some here I'll probably invest in a yellow, blue and white to start and give them a good test run. I did read on their facebook page regarding an inquiry from someone when they will be available in New York City that they should be shipping them by the end of this month.
Here's the link to the facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/cobra.wmo
Judy, Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on how they behave.
I posted the chart for the cobra in the Color Theory and Mixing section. Small print but the best I could do without it becoming too blurry.
You can get the chart on their website here: http://www.cobra.royal-talens.com/4/colours.htm
