| Hi everyone! Kay, My walls are fairly bare. I have one painting that was a tribute to my father-in-law painted after he passed away. I'm leaving room for the day that I actually paint something that I would like on my wall. I took a look at Joa's site and the subject matter is similar. Very nice paintings. Small for me is 8X10 so I don't think it would qualify as an ACEO. My painting space is just a corner of my living room. We have 2 empty rooms on the second floor but the lighting is terrible. Hope you were able to get some painting in. Judy, That's quite the view you have. It must be easy to stay inspired to paint. Callie, I think I'll be able to start the Vermeer today. Jack, Sofie, I hope your back gets better soon. Congratulations on the painting sales. I hope your trip goes well. Susan, What type of paintings did you bring back from France? Did you learn to paint from your mother? | |

| Hi Janet - My son-in-law took me to an art store in his village where there are loads of painting. Actually, I think the ones I got were painted in Romania. They have sort of old world village themes. My mother was an oil painter. Her uncle was rather famous. His name was William Henry Lippincott. I knew God gave me the art genes too, but I quit art school in the late 60's because I was on a spiritual search and was very unsettled. I could not make art my life, as much as I did like it. I was too much of a party-er! So I quit! Well, later I really did find what I was looking for (though i did not know what it was then), but I more or less "threw the baby out with the bath water" and I ignored the ability that I knew that I had. It was not til many years after my mother died (at a relatively young age) and my step-mother was getting rid of her paintings (and I have no idea what she did with them), that I was so sad to not have them to pass on, and it was as if God said to me (but not in an audible voice) "paint your own". So I actually connected with a senior center. I was the youngest one there, but it was just what I needed to get going! I took to oils like a duck takes to water! I moved since then, and am painting and learning all I can. I love dramatic lighting, and color theory. The art courses I had were invaluable to me. I like to do French scenes, fruit, ,flowers, and whatever "grabs me". I have to paint something I love or I am not interested in doing it. My first one i gave away. The next 3 were in a juried show, but I do not want to sell them. I hang them and will give them to friends and family. I can't say that I crank them out fast at all. It takes me hours and hours to fine tune. Maybe I'll get help in posting them one of these days. The computer is a real weakness for me. I must say that I am having fun. Sorry to go so long. I don't mean to take up so much space or to bore you. Thank you for being interested, and I love you all! | |

| I took a look at the paintings of William Henry Lippincott and his paintings are amazing. He was an extremely talented painter. Just one of his paintings: Interesting what compels us to paint. For me it was my research in art history. For whatever reason looking at the old master paintings resulted in an urge to want to copy those paintings. The only thing readily available was colored pencils so that's where I started. Don't worry about learning about posting your paintings. Take your time. Get comfortable with the forum. When you're ready we'll help you with whatever you need help with. Don't hesitate to ask for help. Feel free to share as much as you like. Not boring at all. It's great getting to know our members. | |

His painting is beautiful. If you have inherited his skills, you will outshine us all.

| I'm off to the mainland today for the first leg of my journey to the land of Oz. Tomorrow I fly to Melbourne out of Vancouver. I can hardly wait! I'll be gone for 5 weeks, but I'm taking a laptop so I'll keep in touch on my trip. I'm visiting my new granddaughter, having an art show, and planning on doing some plein air painting! It's going to be a fun time! | |

| Thanks everyone! Right now I'm killing time in the airport - they like you to come 3 hours early to get through the check in and immigration - which took all of 15 minutes this time! I'll be boarding my plane in a little over an hour. I'll be travelling for 22 hours. | |

| I have a short break from work so thought I'd stop by. What a morning. My schedule was up in the air. Either I was leaving town around 7:30 AM or it was business as usual. Quickly put together the Art History Mystery Challenge and instead of posting the puzzle piece I posted the full painting. Went back to get the puzzle piece and had trouble finding it because I put it in the wrong folder. I have to remember to have my coffee first before doing anything in the morning because I'm totally useless without it. I hope you're all having a great day! | |

| Janet I am now retired from paid employment. However your day just sounds like mine. I don't know how I worked and enjoyed myself. I endeavoured to join up with putting forward a mystery challenge but my Apple is not being friendly, or, Photoshop is not being friendly, or an evil combination of the two. Took my paintings in today for an exhibition and everyone now seems to be painting big paintings, I hope there'll be room for my little uns. We had some good friends around over the weekend and we enjoyed my favourite pastime of nonsense conversations. Much laughter. The theme was 'what are we on the brink of? Good fun. Jack | |

| Jack, sorry to hear about the problems that your having with your Apple and/or Photoshop. I'm sure that your little paintings will do great! Sounds like you had a great weekend. I painted for the first time in a long time over the weekend. It felt great to pick up a brush again. | |

| I have not fallen off the face of the earth. I ended up with some more job duties at work and in the evenings, I have been spending all my free time planning my trip or working on my Dory's painting. I was going to post my progress but kept working on it. So I will post a series of photos of the progress instead. Miss you all dale | |

| As with the rest of you, I check in once in awhile. After all, all the rules of traditional oil painting applies to W/S. And you don't have to tell them you are a patron of W/S. And there is a lot of other good info there. My problem is that I just don't have the time to spend on discussions. Getting slow in my old age and need more rest. I do like the atmosphere on this site much better. | |
