| This thread is for us to share our art in other mediums. Discuss anything that doesn't fall in any of the other categories on the forum. | |

| I think I've just talked myself into doing some painting today rather than working (freelance designer - get to set my own schedule - usually). But first, a look around the forum to see what else is going on....... | |

| Be careful looking around the forum. I was supposed to start organizing my income taxes so I could do them today. I just took a minute to look at the forum and an hour later, I said the heck with the taxes.

| Talk about squandering time - I thought I'd get some ideas for this month's challenge painting, and...well... Mona with a Pearl Earring Still not painting or working! Where's Jack? Is it time for another cup of tea? I still visit WC from time to time. I don't post anything in the oil/wm oil forums - just lurk around. Posting anything about water mixable oils is like beating a dead horse. One just gets the same suggestions about how to paint with reg. oils. The idea that someone really wants to use ws/wm oils is just not supported - gets rather frustrating. I do enjoy the plein air and portrait forums | |

| I stop by periodically but mainly for forums other than the WSO. I do look at it but do not contribute to that one.

| I lurk on WC once in a while. Just to check to see if anything has changed with the Water Mixable forum and no changes. No updated monthly challenge. No updated General Chat. Their wasn't a whole lot of support from the staff from the very beginning. Constant restrictions on the forum and trying to get people to post in the Oil Painting forum. Just really lame. Callie, that's a really funny version of Girl with a Pearl earring. Now we know what a collaborate painting by Da Vinci and Vermeer would look like. | |

| I love the mona/pearl earring. Great laugh. I hadn't been on the w/s forum long enough to be aware of any issues. I know that I got incredible feedback from the figure forum. I posted my DOry's WIP on the regular Oil forum but will wait and see if they make any comments about w/s. I just don't get the reason for negativity? If you love it, use it. (Mind you, I don't always use that statement for other things in life. Chuckle) | |

| I really think the moderators set out to create the divide. Rather than treating ws oils as a valid off-shoot of the regular oils forum, they acted like it was an invasion of cockroaches - and started stomping all over it! I saw some really out of line mod. behavior when I joined in on one of the (reg. oils) painting challenges. The host said "won't your wm forum buddies miss you over here?" And the main mod. reamed him for it right there in the middle of the challenge thread! Gave him a big old lecture about everyone getting along and no tolerance for bad behavior! It was so out of line and unnecessary. It made the host feel bad, and I never crossed the ws oil/reg. oil line again. I know others here have had not so pleasant "encounters" with the same moderator. I love seeing what everyone's working on in the oils forum, but except for the occasional "good job" sort of comment - I keep my head low when over there! I do like the Mystery Master forum, but felt like a party crasher the one time I jumped in on that (maybe it was too soon after the other incident! ). And here I am, not painting again! | |

| Sorry to hear you had a bad reaction from this individual. I think moderators have a responsibility to the forum and its users. They were way out of line. I used to have a lot of hangups worrying if my paintings were good enough. I guess once you hit a certain age, you develop an attitude. It is my art. i can decide how and what I want to create. Yes, I like critique but it must be constructive. And I am not going to get in a huff if someone doesn't like my art because of personal taste. That is simply opinion and they are entitled to it. But they can be nice about it. (smile) | |

| I used to participate in WC and did so for quite a few months. Then realised I was not quite so thick skinned as I thought. One or two of the critickers seemed to enjoy talking down, and quite honestly some I just didn't understand. WSO might be small but it is friendly. | |

| Dale, I did like the figure forum on WC also. It has and atmosphere that is different then many of the other forums. Jack, I'm very please with this forum. I haven't seen one member that isn't kink and friendly. Feels like home. Thank you all for making so.

Dale, you have nothing to worry about. Every piece of art you have diplayed has been outstanding in my book. Judy | |

| I had noticed that certain regulars in the oil forum (WC) got a lot of good comments and over the top praise no matter what they did. It's OK to rip others' work to shreds, as long as you kiss the right butts I would prefer a critique based on the actual painting rather than my level of popularity (or what type of oils I use). Buying tubes of hand-made paints at $45 or more rather than ws oils doesn't automatically up someone's talent | |
