50th Painting: A white rose Empty
PostSubject: 50th Painting: A white rose   50th Painting: A white rose EmptySun Feb 03, 2013 5:07 pm

I have reached the middle of my goal of 100 small paintings.... cheers

I am going after flowers now... I think one can learn a lot from painting flowers. I worked, changed and reworked some more... the intent was to learn.

Please, Please, Please... tell me what I can do to improve some more. All constructive criticism are welcome.

Thanks

Size: 4" x 4"
Time: 2.5 hours...

The rose is fantastic. I particularly like the darker shadow area near the left-center.

Perhaps darken the background a bit, especially where the cast shadows would to the right middle and lower portions. It will make the flower stand out more from the background. The rose itself is very well done.

Any time. That was the exact suggestion my digital teacher had for me on a rose I painted for the class and it worked like a charm.

I haven't been here in a few days and what a treat to see this when I opened your thread! I'm actually trying to paint roses myself (nothing worth saving so far) and am looking forward to more of your flowers! It would be great if you would post a WIP or give use some steps that you used to paint this. I've watched a video at Jerry's Artarama on painting a rose in the wso's but it just doesn't help! lol Here is the video is anyone is interested.
