| I had a rare chance to paint figure models yesterday. I knew about this in advance, so I applied a thinned wash to some canvas paper for backgrounds. which were dry before the session. Then I painted the figures on the background. (one painting is just blue on the white canvas paper) Here are several paintings that are in the 15 minute category. (model pose was for 15 minutes) I used Artisan WSO Titanium white, Cad red and French Ultramarine blue, with medium for all the paintings in this series. These 3 paintings are 11 x 14 inches | |

| Wow, wow, wow! I can't imagine doing this well in only 15 minutes!

| Absolutely gorgeous!!!!... You have a good understanding of figures... What I love about these quick sketches is how "unbelaoured" and spontaneous they look... very fresth.. as if the artist was determined, bold and knew what he wanted... | |

| Thank you Jan and Faisal. This was a fun opportunity. I hope to do more of these quick sketches. The longest part of this type of painting is prepping the canvas paper. Maybe next time I will reuse old stretched canvases. I have some very inexpensive ones from Michael's store that would be ideal. | |

| These really are great! Have you studied figure drawing or painting before? There is so much life and movement. Congrats!

| Crystal, I have been sketching and drawing figure models recently. Maybe 7 or 8 sessions a year. I did a lot of drawing when I was younger.
But although drawing experience helped me with the form, I wasn't sure what to do in such a short time, so I just experimented. Tried to build shapes and show values. | |

| Thanks Judy. I looked into buying more canvas pad sheets for my next opportunity. There are only a few brands available locally. When I looked online at the US suppliers like Dick Blick and Cheap Joe's, I found that Blick's offers a black Frederix (sp?) pad! The canvas pad is already primed in black. It would save me a lot of work in laying down the base layer before sessions. Maybe someday I will bite the bullet on the substantial shipping and duty, and buy a few. | |
