This picture is a new style....I am thinking about working in this style for while and may keep it....feel free to give your opinion. It is on a 16"X12" stretch canvas

My first reaction...Oh WOW!!! I really like it...clean vibrant colors, great reflections and eye catching. Quite a change, but beautiful.

Hey I'm going backwards. Looked at your second one first. This one is what I was talking about in your second work. You've got blocks of colopur/ It's dynamic.

OK I have to repeat Judy's reaction. WOW. Keep at this. This is eye-catching, vibrant and definately sellable if that is your goal. You may have found just the right style for you.

Hi again Dana
I've had to return to this one. For me it's not 'rainy day in the city'.
For me it is leaning over a wall gazing at a weir across the river in a place called Dumfries in Scotland. Many times I have visited there and watched the salmon leap up the weir on their way to the spawning grounds. This is the beauty of moving into the abstract. Every viewer can gain their own satisfaction.
Looking forward to the next one.
Lol

Bose (Tony) I'm so glad you joined us. I read you profile and find you have followed the same path as many of us, not being able to tolerate regular oils and pursuing WS Oils instead. One thing I found very helpful for me was to use walnut oil instead of the WS Linseed oil which bothered me as much as regular oils. Hope you browse the forum and find many answers you are looking for as someone new to WS Oils.

Judy

I'm not much on abstracts, but this one has a WOW FACTOR that can't be ignored, and it's one I would hang on my wall at home, so every one else could enjoy it! Love those bright colors! cheerleader

Thank you everyone --

I have been challenged to figure out what kind of artist I am, I love most techniques’ and trying to find out which I want to stay painting.

The struggle for me is I don’t want to get bored with one style, but am being told that I need to find one, then people can identify with me as an artist – I will work on what I may be, may I have wisdom and you all are welcome to send any advice and wisdom my way.

Thank you, DanaC scratch

Dana
I have been told that to be recognised as a professional artist then I would have to follow a set style and subject. Then people recognise and buy.
Fortunately I do not have to depend upon my painting for my existence. I am attracted to combining realism with the abstract. But I find abstract difficult. My once active, business brain, insists on everything being recognised and having status.
I have as wallpaper on my laptop a slide show of a favourite painter and sit in front of the screen asking 'why oh why can't I paint like that?'
