| I painted the sky, sea and sand. Then thought what to do. Went through a set of photos and decided to have this girl running along holding onto her hat. Then I thought why should she do that under a cloudless bright sky so I put in the clouds. This explains my mixed up thought process. The painting was not thought through at the outset but, developed from the completion of the background. The photo was black and white so, I selected the girl's colouring and her dress to compliment the background as I saw it. Hope this answers the question asked when I posted 'girl on the beach'. | |

| Ooops! I try again. Not very good with these things. Give me an abacus every time! | |

| Wow, this painting really came together, especially after reading how you created it! The colours are really saturated, reminding me of a travel poster from the 30's.
If I might make a suggestion for next time, it would be to add just a touch of that sky blue to the shadow colour of her skin, so she 'relates' to the background. Brilliant painting! | |

| Alan, put it so well... this has the quality of the 50's travel poster... love the energy in the painting.
Good Job! | |

| The yellows in her dress and the beach make this look like a beautiful sunny day. If just feels happy.

| I've always admired your paintings. The colors you use, and your style with figures makes the whole painting feel romantic and warm. Beautiful. | |

| You always have such provocative postures in the women you paint. Very well done. Judy | |
