I was invited to this community by Janet. My experience with traditional oils is quite minimal. Our current professor has us using mainly water mixable oils despite having unusually good ventilation. Prior to taking classes at my current university, I used mainly acrylics and water colors for traditional painting.
I'm open to any advice or suggestions. I will post some of my work in the appropriate forum later.

As I understand it, many schools these days require the oils used to be of the miscible variety mainly due to the flamability of solvents and their disposal, and not just the ventilation issue. Could be a boon or bust, depending on your point of view.

Welcome to the forum, Rocco. Our community college here recently added a new location, and it was built with green materials, recycled stuff... anyway, no "toxic" substances are allowed, so no turps or mineral spirits. (I guess they don't realize the art students are still washing cadmium colors down the drain.) Now the entire school system has gone water miscable only.
