Painting Clouds Empty
PostSubject: Painting Clouds   Painting Clouds EmptyThu Jun 27, 2013 1:24 pm

I've been busy writing again and wanted to share this demonstration of painting a very dramatic sunset. It includes a step-by-step video which I edited down to 13.5 minutes. My intent with the article is to expand it to include many different sky types. I did the demonstration with digital oils, but as usual, I used all my techniques that I use with water-soluble oils. Hope you find it helpful.

Will have to go look, Judy! It's odd that we've been having violent t-storms and I've been taking photos of some of the sky when I can. I've gotten a couple of skies that I'd like to paint & I'm sure this will help me.

Wow! Judy this is awesome!... I saw the video, I enjoyed watching it, unfortunately I don't understand the digital painting media so can't comment on your process, but the result is surely fantastic. Are you going to make prints of these to sell?

Painting Clouds Empty

Thank you both.

Jan,
The stormy skies are such great subjects to paint. I hope you do one and post it for us to see.

Faisal,
I don't go to art shows any more but this will be posted on FineArtAmerica shortly. As far as the difference doing it digitally, just visualize a brush moving the paint around the canvas instead of the circle you see. The brush reacts just the same as a traditional one, I just control the amount of paint, the color, the size of the brush and how much blending to do.
