| This month I am taking a course in collage, something I have never done. For my first one, I decided to use original paintings I did of quail in wso's, acrylics and watercolors. I created background images to hold it all together from photos I took of blooming cacti here in the desert. (Spring time here is beautiful). It was another challenge, but I'm pleased with the outcome. Hope you like it. You can see a bigger version by clicking on the image to the right.

| Thanks. At first it was difficult but as the paintings started to get positioned, I stared getting ideas of how to deal with the background. Much like a physical collage, I could place things and move them around until I liked the way the went
I have a whole lot of loon paintings I've done over the years that I think I might try doing a collage with, also. That way I'm doing something in the class that keeps my attention and helps develop the concept. | |

| Very pretty. The pink translucent areas give this an ethereal look - like a fairy tale as someone else mentioned. | |

| Thanks Janet. It is so good to see you back here in the forum. We've been having fun and learning a lot from each other. You have probably noticed that most of my posts these days have been in this digital section. It is allowing me to paint without any allergy worries which is great. It has also given me an opportunity to loosen up from my tight, detailed paintings. I usually use all my oil techniques in my digital paintings except these collage ones. Take a look at this one and you will see what I mean. https://watersolubleoils.forumotion.com/t899-abstract-landscapeHope you are doing great and getting a lot of painting done yourself. I look forward to seeing you again on the forum. Judy | |

| Judy, this is a fascinating way to portray the quail (quails?). It reminds me for some reason of old fashioned travel maps and 'adventure' illustrations. Nice colour choices too. | |

| I love painting the quail. They are such fascinating, family-oriented birds, so this was just a great way to just put them all together. | |
