| I'm old enough to know that the song actually says to put on your red DRESS, Mama but since I painted red shoes, I took a little artistic license. On an 8x10 panel, alla prima. Worked on it most of the day with a couple of hours break when my granddaughter came over. Also working on another Tiare flower alla prima but didn't finish it so guess it really can't be called alla prima. This is still wet so forgive the sheen on it. | |

| I love the way yougot the feeling of texture in the shoes as if they were velour. Judy | |

| Thanks, Judy, I think I got some of the texture (they were suede) but think a lot of what you see may just be that the paint isn't dry yet.

| Wonderful! job Jan!. You have captured the effect of suede very nicely ... . Was this a masonite panel or a canvas you painted on? For the past few days, I have been thinking of painting one of my wife's high heel shoes... Man! what a coincidence. | |

| Thanks, Faisal. It was a plain canvas panel (the cardboard kind) that I bought to practice on.
I think artists are on the same wavelengths and don't find it odd at all that you've wanted to paint your wife's shoes. I say go for it!
I wanted to paint some stiletto heels with a little bling but don't own any nor know anyone who does! These are red but otherwise very tame, hence the "Mama" instead of "Baby" from the song.
Anyway, can't wait to see your painting of some shoes!

| Nice work, Jan. Good shape and colour. I also admire the shadows of the front shoe on the 'floor'. | |

| Thanks, Alan. I like this one a lot but like the flower better. Yes, the shadow worked out really well - I felt it got pulled out and graduated very well, something I sometimes have problems doing.
