| I found a backup cd with some of my digital paintings & thought I'd share while I have them out: I call this one "Glorious Strangler" because it's some bindweed from our farm. This stuff will strangle out most any other plant. This is called "Lying Down in Green Pastures" for obvious reasons. This is a trillium and is called "On the Forest Floor". This is the last one and is called simply "White Althea". All were done in either Painter IX or a lite version of it or in Paint Shop Pro. | |

| Wow... these are amazing... the flowers are too good.. especially the trillium and the strangler. You should translate this into WSO. Thank you for sharing... | |

| Thanks, Faisal,
Well, these flowers are some of my later works - you should see the early ones! I just wish I could translate these into oils! I know it's a matter of practice but I've been having a hard time making the oils do what I want. And I haven't yet found the right consistency of the oils to make them work for me. I have to admit that I get really frustrated with them sometimes and just put them aside.

| Is there something you want to discuss on the forum? We struggled with some of the same problems you mention.. | |

Actually, I think it's just a matter of practice. I didn't learn to paint digitally overnight and I know it will take time to learn these paints also. | |

| Jan, these are all so beautiful. I know what you mean about not learning overnight.
I could see you doing these in WS oils as long as you realize that you don't need to paint photographically. Detail can be softer and still accomplish the same effect. I've come a long way both with WS Oils and digital painting in understanding that and it has freed up my creativity.

Judy, one reason I've given up painting pet portraits is that my clients expected almost photorealistic portraits and I felt it was killing my ability to paint any other way. I just finished my last portrait and I feel so relieved and free to experiment with the wso's and also other media. So, I have to learn how to paint looser/more impressionistic/more representational or whatever term you prefer all over again! So, it's that on top of learning how the medium handles - lots to learn!

| You can do it. Enjoy. It makes it much more fun when you are free to express your self without restrictions. Judy | |
