Words can never fully describe art, and painting names can only hint. But here is my latest work, 24" x 36".
I painted the base layer back in September 2012 (!!!) and finished this today. I used only a few colours: French Ultramarine, Cad Red, Cad Yellow

With the knowledge of the title... I feel like this is a primordial soup, bubbling to become life..? Titles do amazing things to steer peoples imagaination... Nice... Smile

Thanks for the comments. It is always fun and scary to try things that are out of my comfort zone. But they tell me that's where the learning is, ha ha

I find I need titles when it comes to abstract paintings - for an artist, I sometimes don't seem to have much imagination! I certainly applaud you for trying something new!

JanG, my wife and I keep a notebook around, and scribble down any painting names that come to us. They get silly sometimes, or too deep and dreary too, but keeping a list of them can sometimes trigger a thought of another name.
'Dear Darwin' just came to me, so I quickly wrote it down before it disappeared.
I have never cared for painting names like "Untitled #56" etc

My wife suggested something to me today on this painting, so I went for it. A few highlights.
Then I signed it. Now more complete than when I first completed it back in January, ha ha.
24" x 36", the usual Artisan oil on cotton canvas, the usual limited palette.

Ah!... I like it... gives it more 3-D effect... looks more primordial soup now... Smile

Faisal, I agree. In the full size painting it is kind of interesting. As you say, it helps give it dimension.
