PostSubject: 3rd Painting: Bread and Jelly Anyone?   Tue Jan 03, 2012 10:49 pm

I did this a few weeks ago. I completed this over the span of a few days, working on it a little bit at a time.

I kept the setup in the fridge. By the time I was done the bread was hard and the Jelly got absorbed in the bread, I had to remove the jelly and pile the jelly up a few times through out the painting session.

I am enjoying raiding my wife's kitchen. One of these days I will get brave and go out to the park for some plein-air painting. So far I like my studio (errr Garage), where the light condition does not change and I don't have to hurry to complete my painting, although I am working on increasing my speed.

The painting is 6" x 8"

It looks good enough to eat. I like you unique choice for a still life. Usually it is a bowl of fruit or a vase of flowers. It sounds like you really have fun with your painting. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Judy and Janet. As I am a new comer to the world of colors and very new to the wet media, I am choosing simple subjects and sticking to analogous colors and simple palette (3-4 colors) to keep as much harmony as possible in my painting.

Also the simple subject will allow me to paint more frequently to get my skill up. So watch out, this forum is going to get inundated with my paintings... good or bad!... Very Happy

Take Care

M. Ghalib, I really like this new one. How do you get the round plate shape to be so accurate?
I think I would end up repainting it over and over to try to hit that curve...
Keep up the good painting...

Hi WMG,

The ability to do round shape comes from a good foundation in drawing skills. I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil. I do it religiously. At lunch, almost everyday, I go to Barnes and Noble (book store) and sketch people and the surroundings. So this is something I can definetly say is helping me. Having said this, If you look closely, the plate could be a little more rounder, but as with anything after a certain point you see diminishing returns,.... and besides I was concentrating on the bread and jelly... Smile

Take Care and thanks for the encouragement.
