| Hi-ho-hi-ho; it's into August we go! Hurry, hurry and get all those summer things done before the fleeting summer is gone (why doesn't "done" rhyme with "gone"?). And Happy Civic Holiday to the Canadians in our group!! | |

| Thanks for reminding me. I didn't realize July slipped by all ready. I don't know why "done" doesn't rhyme with "gone". If you find out, let me know. | |

| August already! Summer slips by so fast.
This summer, we have built a 14' x 20' workshop, or shed, depending on your point of view. Now we can pack it full of seasonal stuff, and set up a proper basement painting studio area. So, not as much painting getting done these days, but we tell ourselves that we are doing the right thing.
I get out to draw once a week. I have an hour for lunch. Last week I drove 25 minutes to a nice wooded road, drew 'en plein air' for 10 minutes (!!) and then drove back to work. Maybe I should be driving only 10 minutes per direction and then having 40 minutes to draw~

| Maybe that would be a good idea, but at least you made an attempt.
I've been busy setting up an ETSY account to try to sell more of my art prints inventory left over from all the art shows I'm no longer doing. I'm not sure if it will work, but my financial advisor sent me a report showing how they are growing so rapidly and are competing with EBAY. They do restrict all items to those made by the individual, so there isn't quite so much junk I'll keep you all posted as to how it progresses.

| I hope that all of you on the east coast and its environs came through Irene safely. A brief phone call from our Vermont son let us know that they are alright, although the town they live in (and much of Vermont) got very badly hit with flooding. Mother nature has really been on a tear this year. | |

| I live far enough north in NY State so we just got rain and some moderate wind on Sunday. The Albany area and Hudson Valley got hit with a lot of flooding. WE had enough flooding in the Spring from the snow melt and mismanagement of the dams by an out-of-country company that run them now.
It's hard to believe that August is almost over, although, when it was only 46 degrees out this morning, I remembered. Hope every one gets back to painting soon. It's been a busy summer for everyone.

| I've been working on re-doing a large painting I had done several years ago. I always felt there were some shadowed areas that were too dark. After taking the course with Johannes this winter, I definitely know theyu are too day. Now the trick is to lighten themm up. I've never been one to enjoy re-doing anything, but I think this will be worth it. | |
