PostSubject: A multitude of questions about WSO's   Wed Jul 13, 2011 2:15 pm

I do apologize if these topics have been covered previously. I have searched the board and have not found the info I need, so:

1. Does anyone use the sta-wet palette with WS Oils? If so, which kind of paper do you use? Does it help keep the paint from drying out on the palette?

2. Have you used Kamar varnish for your paintings? If so, what do you think? According to this thread on Wet Canvas you can use it when the painting is touch dry. http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=593655&page=2&highlight=kamar

3. Do you think that when using walnut oil you could still combine the WSO's with acrylics?

Don't apologize for asking questions. That is what we are here for.

I use the sta-wet but not the sponge for wsOil's. As long as I close it tight when I'm not using it, the paints stay fine for at least 3 or 4 days. I painted the inside bottom with a mid-gray acrylic paint to help me with color values and cover it with a piece of window glass. (A hardware store can cut it to the exact size). The glass makes it easy for clean up when you want a fresh palette and there is no problem of molding like with the wet sponge.

As long as you are combining the wso's and acrylics there is no problem using the walnut oil.

I'm not sure about the Kamar varnish. If you click on "Search" in the menu at the top and type "Varnish" two discussions come up.
