| Let's Get Creative for the Holidays! Through the end of the year, post in this thread to show off your holiday projects. Anything goes here - paintings, cards, prints, jewelry, ornaments, pottery, woodworking, knitting/crochet...... I'm guessing we all have things we hope to get done for gifts or holiday shows, so let's share our projects here. Remember, anything goes, so let's get inspired! | |

| Sounds good. I'm working with my granddaughter's Brownie troop this Friday painting puzzle cards for holiday gifts. I'll post some as when they are done. Hopefully some budding artists will come out of the group...my granddaughter for one.

| The brownie troop class went well, but they only gave me a half hour for everything so there really isn't much worth showing. I did a 6 x 8 painting on a wooden box canvas while at my show this past weekend . The show was inside but outside was the perfect scene for plein air painting. I challenged myself to not paint the colors as I seen them but be more creative. This is one of the few times I have done this and am pleased with the results after much agonizing over colors. Any input would be appreciated. I forgot to bring the sunrise photos I took as reference so I had to wing it. I think I need to do some improving on the sun rays in the sky. I should have stuck to white with a touch of yellow. I'll see what I can do and hope I don't ruin it in fixing it. Judy | |

| I made some calendars with photos of my australian paintings for my sons, and beaded necklaces for my daughters-in-law/son's girlfriends. I also am giving jam that I made at the end of summer and some of my mini paintings. No pics of any of this stuff, but I had fun doing the beading. | |

| Judy It can be fun not using the colors you see, but challanging. Nice detail and cheery colors.....
...what about purple cactus' and not the green....how fun would that be?!
Thank you for sharing.

| Hi Dana,
I wasn't going to use green at all, but some of the rocks picked up some green when I applied some of the blues and ochres to them for variety. The green accidentally appeared. Several other artist at the show pointed this out, so I felt safe in including slight hints of the blue/ochre blend. In the actual painting the green is just barely discernible.
I redid the sky to make the sun rays look more real, so I'm happy with it now.
