Last Traces of Sun 169019_487398305994_535710994_6436030_3386142_n

I had lots of fun doing this one. My canvas was underpainted first with a wash of saw sienna and then when that was dry, with a wash of cobalt blue with a bit of indian red in it. The underpainting was uneven and I saw an image of a tree and bits of light that sparked this idea. I found a photo to work from for the tree - though I drew it on left to right instead of right to left (with my brush and the brown I made with cobalt blue, indian red, and carmine deep) I started painting while the second underpainting was still wet so I was able to blend into it. Other colours used were Cadmiun yellow hue and zinc white. Canvas - 16"x20".

Very nice work, Sofie. The colours interweave very nicely with the branches. I really like this.

I love the blends of blues and violets mixed in with touches of varying yellows.
