Now that we are a third of the way through November, I decided we probably should have a November Chat.

Laughing I'm still waiting for Halloween.... What's all this Thanksgiving stuff about? How did we get half way through November already? Razz
I've had a lot of graphic and web work to do lately, haven't painted in sooo long! I still meet with my buddies at the coffee shop, they paint and I work on the computer. At least I get a whiff of linseed from time to time.
Very Happy

I'm glad you a least get your linseed fix while visiting with your friends. I've been kind of coasting these past few weeks, but I just got a call from the art store where I teach that some people have signed up for my classes in December. Everyone seem to be too busy in November. I guess I'll have to get back to work.

I did a painting o Yupo paper using your Dubai sunset reference picture from the August Challenge. I think you might have missed it so here's the link, so just in case you are curious, here's the link.

I agree time is just flying by... I also feel like we have just been here and done that too.

We had our first snow fall at our home today....can't believe it's here wondering if this too will go by fast.

I hope you all have a wonderful THANKSGIVING - hope you meet with family and friends and have a fabulous time!!!!

Love your snowman, Dana. I don't expect to see any here in the desert but it is fun to look at it from afar. Hope everyone is ready for the big day on Thursday. I got lucky. My son just called and when I asked what I should bring, he said just me. I'll still probably figure out somem special treat to bring anyway.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and to all that have all ready celebrated and I missed.

Dana: We had our first snowstorm too. It started Friday nite and isn't supposed to stop until sometime tomorrow. We have about 1 1/2 feet and the power was out for about 8 hours today. Luckily, we have a wood burning stove and are nice and warm. We've never have this much snow in November. Well Happy Thanksgiving to all that have had it and those who are yet to have it.

Dayle,

I love the snow and I love the fact of loosing power when there is back-up at hand.....hope you have enough wood and candles.

We bought a generator, but took a while for my husband to hook it up and check the battery, which was out the first time we needed it.....I am hoping this year he has it all ready.

May you all stay warm!

We're experiencing our first snow of the season too - we probably only had 2 inches, but it has stayed cool instead of turning to rain so our yards are still pretty and white. Smile

We seem to be having trouble moving from October to November. While we had a pumpkin out on the back deck for Halloween, I didn't get around to putting a face on it until a week or so ago. I hope The Great Pumpkin wasn't too insulted. Of course, some creatures obviously have no respect for artistic endeavors.

We are in the grip of single digits now. Most of the snow is up in the mountains around us. Is it too early to say Happy Thanksgiving Very Happy?

Some snow here too. And typically, I have waited to have my studded snow tires installed. I like to wait until one snowfall, so I am not "early". ha ha
Hoping to get back to standing in front of the canvas soon.

We are so cold for Seattle now it is 15 degrees here in Seattle, well, I'm a little out side of Seattle and it gets a little colder where I am, but only a few degrees colder.....burrrrrr I am hoping my work is closed, but not likely.

There's also ice and snow on the roads, but I have a four wheeler and should be able to get around, it's the other people whom I worry about like last night driving home a few were sliding all over the place and I had to either stop and/or go around them - my husband said he'd drive me to work in fact insists on it, if we are open.

Well my artist friends, I hope you all stay warm, I'll send some pictures of the snow if I get a chance.

I'm embarrassed to say that we don't have any snow here in southern AZ, not even on the mountains, but we are only in the 50's for the next few days here in the valley so I won't be surprised to see white mountain peaks soon.

After 35 years in Buffalo, NY, driving to work in rush hour in the snow, experiencing several blizzards that shut the town down for weeks, I don't miss that part at all. I do miss the cross country skiing and horseback riding across snow covered fields and listening to the crunch of fresh snow under your feet as it glistened under the light of the full moon.

Now I just look out my kitchen window and enjoy the beauty of snow covered mountains, 30 miles away.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

A bit of snow, a bit of cold - just the typical Cody winter. Finally, finally, finally I am able to get back to painting a little bit on some days.

The jack-o-lantern on the deck froze and the deer seemed to leave it alone so we could enjoy it. However. last night it was chewed down quite a bit. I guess that deer had a taste for art after all.

Hey it's almost the end of November and there are only Rolling Eyes more shopping days left!

Jim,

Time is moving along at a fast pace, although it usually does this time of year. Our cold spell moved on....just damp and chilly. We are supposed to have high wind warnings this eve.....I SURE HOPE NOT my hubby is out of town and I can't move the generator if I nedd too.

Glad to hear that you can get to some painting Jim - Yeah...now some fun time for you. What's the temp usually there for this time of year?

Enjoy your painting time.....hope your going to show it to us. zI'll be looking for it.

Yeah, we have a generator, too, but DH hasn't hooked it too everything to stay. It will give a light to draw by, the TV, and the refrigerator. We have a propane camping stove we use to cook. The power was off about 12 hours a day for 6 days, though!! DH had to shovel through the snow storm to find the generator! We were pretty lucky....a lot of elderly people were out the entire 6 days!! One of them had to call her son from miles away to dig out their driveway about 3 days after the power came back on. I'm not a snow person...so the rest of you, have a great time!

I used to be a snow person but not any more. We had 23 degrees here in the desert two nights ago which broke the all time record for low temperatures. It encouraged me to do some winter yard art. This is called "Grapefruit Wrap."

Underneath are all the precious grapefruit that are ripening. They will be ready for picking along with my oranges the first of the year. Here's a peek underneath. They all appear to have survived the cold.

Violet is my favorite color. What a beautiful piece you've created with "Grapefruit Wrap". And you have your own fruit in the winter...I may want to move to Arizona once this Winter is done!

Dayle,

If you want to move to Arizona you do it in the winter rather than after it is over. By May we start breaking 100 degrees. Of course, that is southern Arizona. Up in the north around Flagstaff, when we had 23 F, they had -6 and expected to warm up to 4 above for the daytime temperature. The rest of this week, we are expecting 70's by day and 50's by night. How are your colored pencils going? Hope you sare doing a lot of drawing and will share some of them with us.

There's so much snow here that we couldn't carry anything out to the car to move right now. Actually, a lot of people here go to Arizona in the winter. Thing is the heat has never bothered me like the cold, but I'd have to lose DH since he can't take the heat, and I love him too much to go. I'm still waiting for my order of prismacolor pencils to arrive. I did a few drawings with the cheapo set of 12 that I found, but I can't seem to erase them. They were on copy machine paper too, so I'm a little embarrased to show them. I expect the prismacolors to arrive sometime this week. I sure feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas when I'm waiting for new art supplies! I promise to send you one of my first drawings after they come. Thanks for asking!

Stay warm. sunny sunny sunny

I look forward to your first drawing. I know when I tried colored pencils I had to learn to apply in thin layers to blend. I was used to the easy blending of soft pastels so it was quite a lesson.
