| I have just started a new painting, with the working title of Sunflowers, until, um, a more 'flowery' title comes along. My wife and I were inspired by a filed of sunflowers that a farmer is trying to grow as a cash crop for the first time. We stood next to the field under partly cloudy skies, waiting for the next patch of sun to sweep through the sunflowers. Here is the pencil work, and the first loose wash, basically to establish the colours, and to cover the canvas. By the time I get back to it, this will be dry, and I hope to work wet-on-wet, with the largest brushes I can manage.. something new for me, and.. here we go.. onward!! | |

| Good luck with your new painting. I like the holder you have for the photo that frames in the part you are going to paint. Very unique. Judy oops....wrong colors. | |

| Hi Judy; Thanks for the comments. Actually, I have applied green painter tape onto the surface of the print, after carefully measuring the area to make sure it scales up to the exact dimensions of the painting. AS an alternative, some people make "L" shapes out of two separate pieces of cardboard, and then slide them around to define the cropping. The red-tipped clamp that you see in front of the print is a leftover from the Umbrella painting setup. Cheers Alan | |

| Could have fooled me. Still a good idea. I tend to crop in Photoshop and then go from there. Judy | |
