Hereis how it looks finished - the sun was too bright to take a proper picture so I tried to get it in some shade.

This picture I took without a flash as it put too much shadow and spots of bright light on the picture. So I had to brighten it up...not the best photo still working on it and will try to get a better picture, just started on it today... It is on a canvas 24/24 Used sap green, cad.yellow, lemon yellow perm.green, a little diox purple for the leaves and a touch of white. for the nest...burnt umber, cad yellow, white, yellow ocher, diox purp, a touch of black. The birds need lots of work...so does the whole painting....hope to work on it more this week

Here is the almost completed version of the two baby birds at feeding time

I am going to wait until it dries some before I add a few more details.

It's on a 18/18 canvas.

It's great. They look so sheltered by all those wonderful leaves. Judy

It is signed and finished --- I stayed up until 2AM last night working on the leaves, nest and the two baby birds—one of the birds just gave me the dickens, this morning I looked it over again and decided that one of the birds had to go – I just couldn’t get him to look right…..so a snake, or something got him.

My husband said they looked good and you have to know he doesn’t tell me that very often, he is very honest, which I appreciate about him.

I decided no it just isn’t looking like a baby bird from the year 2010, maybe, during the prehistoric days, yes, that was when that baby bird should be in the nest. I should have taken a picture of it so you all could see, next time hopefully I will remember to do that.

Thank you for the challenge Callie – it was a challenge and a fun one.

You all have a wonderful weekend, today it has cooled off only in the high 50’s now, just maybe the low 60’s. I have a sweater, slippers and warm clothes on and still a bit cool. Take Care and keep on painting and hopefully displaying so we all can see!

I'll try to get a bigger picture to put up -- right now it isn't working

The baby bird looks lonely

Wow! that's just too big, Judy maybe, if you don't mind, you could help me with some hints on how to get one a little smaller, but not a thumbnail size...

Are you loading you pictures through servimg.com which is the default one in the menu above? If you are, they give you a choice to "Resize the image" before you upload it. I usually select the 640 width which is a good size for the forum. If you are using another program, I'm not how you can tell it to set a width of 640 pxs.

Tell us what system you are using and someone will probably know.

BTW did you ever go back to your July down the drain entry? I made a few suggestions.

PS, The baby bird looks very lonely. I didn't see anything wrong with the two of them. They should look prehistoric at that tender age.

Judy

Suspect Aah-ha -- I was up-loading for forums, which was okay, but I prefer the smaller size occasionally. I was using the forum's up-load which you all supplied for us and much appreciated, but didn't realize that I could take one of the other resizing as they say for websites, blogs and other things.

Thank you -- it is a much better size. Very Happy

You can also size your image in your image editor and choose no resize in the Serveimg program.

I miss the other bird! One all by himself feels abandoned
