Hi all,

I haven't had a chance to visit this thread in a while, but I like what I see. So many great ideas for altering photos to help improve your landscape painting. I'm going to put my Photoshop to work to help with value studies and blurring to loosen up my detail obsession.

I don't know if this thread is still fresh or unravelling (chuckle) but I have found some invaluable videos on Youtube for painting landscapes.

Alex Perez has a wonderful video on painting seascapes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhFjOjmYMqc
and I learned a lot on painting skies from Jimmy3D http://www.youtube.com/user/jimmy3dd#p/u/29/vWsxoSVujjw

Dale, don't worry about the age of a thread feel free to add any additional information or ask questions on existing threads.

I took a quick peak at both of the videos and they both look fantastic. I'll be painting a landscape tomorrow and I need all the help I can get with that subject so I'm going to watch them both in full first thing tomorrow morning. I noticed they had others as well that I'll check out.

Thank you for sharing! Smile

Thanks for those! You just "freshened up" the thread! Interesting to watch someone ambidextrous paint (2nd video).

I love watching them both paint. I emailed Alex Perex and he had responded a few times. He is very supportive of new artists and has a lovely website

If you want to brave my New York accent, you can view the 9 minute preview for a landscape video I produced on painting a landscape is Arizona. the complete video is an hour long.

It was done in acrylics, but all of the techniques apply readily to WSO

Dale, I've finished watching the Perez videos and it's amazing. My understanding of how to paint a landscape has just taken a leap forward. I have some round brushes that I'll be modifying in the way he describes. Such a great artist who is obviously genuine with his willingness to teach. The best video I've ever seen on landscape painting! Thank you so much for sharing this video I would recommend everyone watch it even if you don't paint landscapes. cheers

I'll watch the other one when the site is back to normal. Smile

Judy, thank you for the video and I'll be watching it as soon as everything is back to normal on the site. Smile

Dale, the JimmyD ones are fantastic as well. Again it gave me some great ideas on different ways to approach a landscape. Thank you!

Judy, Very nice video. Thank you for sharing! Smile
