Here is the finished version of the painting I have been working on in WIP. The original is on stretched canvas 24 x 30 inches.

Thanks Callie,

I think I might highlight the trees building and rocks a little more with some more opaque paints. Working on the black gesso definitely holds brightness down when you are using mainly translucent paints. I used mainly zinc white in all my colors. I'm going to have to use some titanium white and hansa yellow for highlights to bring them up.

So.. th is is almost a competed painting.

Wow Judy you're painting is lovely! I've noticed the same thing you pointed out regarding using the transparent paints and black gessoed canvas. Smile

Dale, how is you waterfall picture progressing?
Have you started on it yet?

Thanks Sophi. I talked to the photographer the other day and it is not a mine, itis a mill which makes more sense. It is the Crystal River Mill in Colorado.

I just love your work, so much detail and so real looking -- as always thank you for sharing. Dana

I would love to paint leave/trees like you did --- I love the foliage – Looks so lush and real.

Thanks Dana,

I wanted to paint that from the moment I saw the photo. I was really lucky my friend let me have a copy, since he sells his photo.

You are so welcome - Thank you for sharing with us -- I also get a fancy for pictures and I am always looking for the right one to paint, as time is limited. I am getting a feel for how to navigate around this forum it is my first time being on one, I will have to watch it that I don't spend too much time on it need to be painting too -- Haha

You are having the same problem we all had when we started...spending hours on the forum...addictive but fun. Most of have finally modified our addiction and try to curb the amount of time we spend.
