The Art History Mystery Challenge

Welcome to our totally disorganized art museum! The challenge is to help us identify all the masterworks in our virtual museum. We'll post a piece of the painting and one clue to get you started. Can you name the artist and the title of the painting?

Pieces of the painting and clues to the artist's identity will be added every 24 hours until we have a winner, then the next painting in our collection will be posted. Feel free to use any resources at your disposal to help in your search. Challenge winners will receive a shiny award badge that we will add below their profile image. You will retain this award until someone else wins the award.

The AHM Challenge is open to all forum members, not just ws oil painters, so join in and have some fun with us!

Clue = born in 1737

Well, that's what I get for sleeping late At least I was looking in the right century. I took a glance at a few Copley works yesterday - but didn't have time to spend then, so put it off until now I started with 18th century Am. portrait artists, so of course Copley came up right away, but darn work - it's always there when you'd rather do something else!

it took me a while to get that Champ Award back - Somehow I don't think my employer would consider it necessary in my job. Chuckle. And Copley is one of my favorites

Congrats..Dale. I just never even had a chance to research it. I ended up staying my grand kids for a few days while their parents were away. I'm getting old. By the time they were in bed for the night, I was ready to hit the sack myself.

Today I spent time playing catch up at my own home.
