After last minute alterations this is now finished, and is now in frame and drying. Mid April goes into an exhibition. Fingers crossed.

Very Nice! Has a hint of Maxfield Parrish about it. Love the blues and the fresh, sunny atmosphere. The reflections add interest to it.

How many pieces will you have on exhibit? I hope you'll take some photos.

I love it! Elegant and soft. Good luck with the exhibit! Can't wait to hear how it goes. Smile

Thank you Callie and Janet. I hadn't heard of Maxfield Parrish but i googled him and i am privileged that you should draw some small similarity.
It was a famous illustrator who got me involved with painting. Sir William Russell Flint. I had to try and copy his type of work. Watercolours which I now realise is the hardest medium. At least for me.

Sorry. i didn't answer your question Callie. There's two exhibitions on at the moment with a third next month, I've got three in one and I'll have two in the others.

It is beautiful. I especially like the blues and the reflections. I agree with you that watercolor is the hardest medium mainly because it can be so unforgiving. I figure that people who start with watercolor don't realize how hard it is. If you are used to other media and then do watercolor, the threat of not being able to make corrections or adjustments can be formidable.

Best of luck with all your exhibits.

I hadn't heard of William Russell Flint, so Googled him:

http://shop.sirwilliamrussellflint.co.uk/index.asp

I like his style. Reminds me of J. S. Sargeant. I like to see watercolors used like paint rather than tinted water

I hope you're having good turn outs for your shows! Wish I could hop over there and have a look

After sharing the image with other artists the general opinion was that it required a black frame. So here it is re-framed. Any thoughts??? I do find the views of others are helpful although not always acted upon.

I think the black frame draws you right into the focus of the painting. The brown frame tended to make me bounce back and forth between the woman and the frame. It is really beautiful.

I am coming to the conclusion that my advisers have been right.
I too like the black frame.
I think I may not be looking at things through contemporary eyes.
Anyway it goes into the exhibition in the black frame.
Fingers crossed.

Good luck with the exhibit. With the black frame it will stand out from the rest.

As a former picture framer - I have to say I didn't like the other frame at all
I'm so glad you got some good framing advice! That is a great choice; it's like it's an extension of the painting - really makes the subject "pop"
