Just had to share this! Kevin Best sets up exact reproductions of old master/Dutch painting and then photographs them.

They are amazing. You would swear that the original art was a photograph; they are so realistic.

I came across him when I was hunting for an AHM* challenge painting. The little thumbnail image I saw looked like the original painting, but it said by Kevin Best - so I had to go check it out. He must spend a huge amount of time looking for items that look exactly like what's in the paintings (not to mention $$$). He even makes some of the items himself if he can't find them.

*it's really easy to wander off-course when trying to find the mystery painting Amazing Photographer/Artist Icon_arrow

Callie that's just so amazing and was thinking the same thing you were regarding the items. They look so authentic. The photos really give you a great idea of what the original scene looked like and how the artist interpreted it. Smile

The art comes in when Kevin reproduces replicas of the artifacts featured in the original paintings and of course in his exceptional photographic skill. What he does is assemble a diarahma ( sp?) of artifacts then photographs them. Pretty remarkable.
