Here's some information on how to right click on a Macintosh. Notice that their are several ways and it depends what type of mouse or whether you're using a laptop: http://www.wikihow.com/Right-Click-on-a-Mac

Thanks Janet
I've now got a left and right click mouse. Just did a test run. Fingers and toes crossed now. Here's what I was trying to do several aeons ago.
A spoilt painting gave me a canvas to paint over. Gridded both photo and canvas.
A cyber acquaintance gave me permission to use her photo.
The second image shows the first stage after about an hour, just aiming at lights and darks.
Hey this is exciting. If it works Cool

Here comes image 2. The underpainting or grisaille. The purists, I believe, use black, white and grey. But clearing up the palette can give some unusual effects which may show through in the finished work.
cheers

I agree the number of posts can be reduced. I should manage this myself shouldn"t I?
I'll stick with the name though cos' it is likely to remain the name of the painting.
thumbs up

Jack, Unfortunately members are unable to delete posts but we're more then happy to do it. I was just a little concerned that our members would miss your painting as it was so far down in the thread. I just kept the first few so it doesn't mess up the flow of the conversation. Smile

Jack,

I love the colors so far. I'm fascinated that you used the grid. I use it for some of my paintings and have written several articles about it.

I have frequently been put down by people who think using a grid is amateurish. I point out to them that Albrecht Durer used it and actually developed a grid tool to view his subject through when doing drawings that had complicated perspective issues like some of his drawings of women in unusal poses.

I look forward to following your progress. I'm so glad you were finally able to load you pictures.

Judy

Thanks Judy
When I'm working from photos, especially the figure, the grid is essential. I can be confident that my proportions are right and can paint freely. I believe that any means which enables me to relax and enjoy are acceptable. When I used to go to life classes people used to laugh at my 'two compass' method of measuring, but it worked. Also I once went to an acrylics class and was put down by the teacher for using more than one brush.
Just had another session on 'Frustration' and will be posting when i find the camera.

Thanks jack,
I'm so glad to meet another artist that realizes that there are no rules about how you accomplish what you are trying to do. I'm looking forward to your next photo.

Did you notice the new sticky at the top of Work In Progress. I used you recommendation about including size, support, paint an colors. We as moderators have talked about that very thing so we felt your suggestion was very appropriate.

Hope you find the camera.

Judy

I like the fresh, loose feel you've acheived so far - and the bold colours! Beautiful.

Managed to take time off from painting and decorating to work on 'Frustration'. Next session after a couple of days should finish it. Mainly fingers in hair and shadows on her back. It's exciting to be back to painting from the grisaille through to the finish. There's an exhibition on in March and this one will be one of three I'll be entering.
Wish me luck.
Wink

She's looking great, Jack! So expressive, even though her face is away from us. I hope you get accepted into the show!

Thank you Janet, thank you Callie. All I got to do now is to explain to Jackie when she gets in why I haven't done any decorating. Just got to cook a nice meal and pour her a glass of wine
