PostSubject: What's up?   What's up? EmptySat Jun 06, 2015 9:40 pm

Well, I have been continuing to experiment with watercolours. I brought my ultra-cheap (less than $2) and flimsy (balance on my knee or nearby rock) watercolour setup to life drawing a few weeks ago. I used very cheap watercolour paper too, which bled profusely and was lots of fun to work with!
I will scan a few of the resulting pieces. And now I am getting ready to get back to WSO after the recent comic book project. THAT'S what's up with me these days. What about each of you, (ESPECIALLY NEW MEMBERS) what have you been painting or thinking of painting?

Glad to hear from you Alan! I can imagine what the w/c did on flimsy paper!!!! How did you ever manage it?

I've finally finished an acrylic piece I've been working on for a couple of years at least! And I'm also working on a painting my (adult) granddaughter requested of her and her boyfriend's boots tangled together. I wasn't all that inspired by it so have been sort of dragging on it. It's being done in the Gamblin Fast Matte alkyd oils.

Also just applied to join our state wildlife art society. I figured I may as well since my favorite subjects are animals and flowers. Wild flowers are also accepted as subjects so it really suited me to apply. We'll see if I get in.

OK, what about everyone else?

I love watercolor too Alan,… but they are not forgiving… and I like to forgive myself once in a while.

I have been painting whenever I can… hopefully will paint today as well.

Thanks

Faisal

A quick note to let everyone know that I am still around; I am extremely busy these days with work, have not picked up a pencil or brush for months. From one extreme to the other, unfortunately. take care

So good to see you Alan! This place has been soooo quiet and it's such a shame. Too bad you've been too busy to paint but I totally understand. It seems that life is a teeter-totter, going from one extreme to another.

I have been painting but it's been sort of experimental stuff and we've been traveling some so painting has been a little sporadic. Maybe we'll both be able to do more painting soon!

Hi Jan
Thanks for your update too! Nice to keep in touch here; I think of the forum as a friendly place where we can all show works in progress to like minded folk. Talk soon....

Hi guys,

Yes, it has been quite quiet over here. I have been painting, but just not posting over here... I am posting at other locations and when it comes to posting over here it is a little tedious so I just shy away, sadly.. Sad.

Do write back.

HI Faisal, I happened to see your post come in. I am finally finally getting back to painting after a too long absence. I think I will go back to painting small canvases for awhile to get back into it; landscapes to start. I hope people continue (or start ha ha) to post their work here; good place to show.

It's so good to see you both! It's sad that the forum has become so inactive. It's a great place with such great people here and the only place I feel I can get honest critique.

I do understand the inconvenience with posting pictures though - can't it be fixed so that it's easier to do? Other forums of this type don't have this posting process so it should be fixable.

I've been painting but am in a sort of slump right now - summer is busy with other things usually so painting gets put on the back burner!

Hope to see new work from both of you soon!

Hi Jan,

I am about to post one or two paintings within an hour or so. Enjoy!

If you could, please join Facebook, my profile name is "Artist Faisal". I post most of my paintings in the group "alla Prima"

Thanks

Faisal

I'd love to see your work on FB but I quit that particular social media after I saw Mark Zuckerberg on a morning show bragging about the information he collected and not only collected, but controlled! He bragged that he could do all kinds of things with it & I decided to leave FB. Since then, I've been very careful about joining such sites (actually, I don't join most!)

It's weird, I just saw the following on Yahoo which says it all when it comes to privacy on FB!

Jan, you are wise to limit the amount of information you reveal on social media. Not to get too far into this here, but a Google Search will actually turn up our postings on this forum!!

I agree, Alan. I don't even use Google any more but a more private search engine, Duck, Duck Go or Privatelee
