I've been busy taking an abstract class at Digital Art Academy and have finished several as I play with the freedom of abstract. This first was taken from a reference photo the instructor gave us. I loved the colors and composition related to the colors so I took a grainy water brush and dabbed over the colors to create circles of colors which also picked up the rice paper grainy surface I was working on. From there I took a distorto tool which would be similar to dragging a pallet knife through wet paint. What it did was create a series of floating heart shapes of different colors. I call it "Hearts in Harmony." (see below)

I agree about the colors being very yummy. And while I like playing with the art media tools with no particular subject in mind, I can't say I really understand abstract painting. The design is very pleasing though.

Don't feel bad, I still struggle with abstract and tend toward more abstract realism like the other paintings I just posted of the succulents.

Amazing how a digital working method can produce something that look so much like hand painted! Interesting play with greens and mauves!
