PostSubject: Catchin' Up   Catchin' Up EmptySun Jan 25, 2015 1:03 pm

Well, it appears that everyone has left the forum but forgot to lock the door so I'll post an experimental piece based on the David Stribbling book on how to paint loosely. I don't know if I'll ever get the hang of it but maybe the practice will help me find a less tight way of painting.

All C&C welcome - see the next post for the painting.

Just noticed that some of the strands in the manes look very dark but it's because they're still pretty wet and the camera picked up the color as darker than it really is.

This is one awesome piece. Love it. Love it. Love it. The dark stands don't distract, because everything has a bold look to it and therefore looks more like an artistic statement. What is the size?

Jan, this is great. I love the shape of the head of the horse on the right. Awesome!

Thanks to both of you. My husband is usually my biggest fan and he was less than enthusiastic about this but he prefers very realistic so I wasn't sure how it would be received by everyone else.

Faisal, it's 12 x 12 inches on a gallery wrapped canvas.

I like the colors on this and the way the 2 horses seem to be emotionally close. Great job.

I think you did a great job keeping it somewhat loose. I is a hard thing to do and like your husband, some people have a hard time that it is not as realistic as they are used to. I've been busy with more art courses in digital painting and just haven't gotten around to posting here. I think I do that now.

Thanks Crystal and Judy. It's really more difficult to paint loosely than tight in my opinion. I guess I just wasn't cut out to be a loose woman! lol
