| Corel just came out with their new Painter 2015. I got a trial version to see if I want to upgrade. I had a lot of fun playing with varying old and new brushes to come up with this Abstract butterfly. It was fun relaxing for once on a cool, rainy evening | |

| Ignore the arrows. I didn't have this on my small computer so I captured it from my Facebook page. | |

| Really pretty and imaginative! Is it worth the upgrade?

| LSD helped, but the new program also helped. It has a lot of new features that may encourage me to be more abstract and relaxed in my paintings. I'm not sure how applicable the new particle brushes will be with my traditional techniques, but the whole program is much more user friendly.
The upgrade was only $99 because I all ready had X3. It would have been $229 if I only had an older version. I start a new course at Digital Art Academy this week on using the new brushes so we'll see what develops over the next month.

| Ah! Judy… I am enjoying the digital side of you. With Jan doing Gouache and you doing digital, I am so tempted to transgress from my righteous traditional oil painterly ways….

| I think that Jan and I have painted a longer time than you if I remember correctly. I've been through oil phase, acrylic phase, pastel phase and now the digital phase. I've still only tackled watercolors minimally and I am no good at pencil sketching so these might be things I'll tackle sometime in the future. One of favorite instructors at the Digital Art Academy told me that he will be giving a watercolor class after he finishes this course on what is new in Painter 2015 which starts tomorrow for 3 or 4 weeks.
It is so much fun to experiment with new media and techniques, specially knowing that you can always go back to your tried and true ones.

| I think I've probably been painting longer than Faisal has been alive! And, Judy, you sound like me about experimenting with different media. I like them all but do like to change up every now and then!
So, are you going to take the watercolor class offered by your instructor? lol

| LOL. Faisal will love you. Yes I will be taking the watercolor class. I've always loved the softness of watercolor when done right, but I've had a hard time keeping them controlled how I wanted them. That is really dumb. If I like the softness, I have to give up the need to control and just let them flow. Maybe digitally I'll be able to learn that. | |

| LOL… that was too funny Jan… . It is true, painting is rather new to me and both of you have far too much experience in it than me… | |

| Well, just remember that experience doesn't equal talent - in that, you're light years ahead of me.

| I really like the vibrancy and colour choices in this, Judy! It would make a beautiful poster or book/DVD cover for a writer or performing artist. I hope this work gets the attention and recognition it deserves!

| Thanks Alan, I guess I'll have to write a book to go with it since I really haven't put out anyplace except here and Facebook. | |

| Thanks Crystal and Gomme. Using Corel Painter has solved my problems with allergies and I don't have to transport so many painting supplies when I travel back and forth between Arizona and New York twice a year. | |

| Judy, I know so well those asthma and allergies problem ! So far I am very happy with WSO, and I fortunately tolerate water soluble linseed oil... I hope I'll be OK during the painting lessons, with traditional oil...wait and see... Anyway I love your butterfly ! | |
