SADISTIC LOVE
Beauty in the clutches of the beast. Her thorns, no match for his armored wooden grip. Little does he know she will wither away… to be no more…

Sorry,… nothing too radical for the 100th… I need to march on. As always, provide your feedback.

I am excited I have a portrait workshop with the Great Anna Rose on Saturday…. I feel like a kid before Christmas… Smile

Congratulations on your Wooo Wooo 100th painting!!

The box chomping the rose is an interesting idea! The lighting is cool too, especially on the rose petals. Beautiful highlights on those petals! The leaves are quite spooky and I initially thought they were something else. (wasn't quite sure) Love the shadow on the 'table' or sand, etc. This looks moonlit! THe box is quite lovely too!

Best of luck at the workshop, as you start your second hundred!

Congrats on reaching your century mark. Excellent job on the rose and box. Do you have this all laid to paint from or was this from your imagination?

Yaaay! You did it! That box is terrific and so is the rose. It's a bit macabre but fits right in with all the vampire/zombie/evil fairy tale stuff that you see around now.

Alrighty then! What's next?

Thanks Jan, I will be doing another 100 with landscapes, portraits and offcourse still-life. I have definetly improved a lot in my painting,... but still long ways to go,... and that is the fun,... i.e. the journey.

However On the side, I have embarked on playing with color notes (value, chroma hue), without blending. Focusing on big shapes for correct values and varying the temperature for interest, if needed. I will be putting color notes to represent what I am looking at. I got this from Kevin McPherson's book: Light and Color, I appreciate this after having done few landscapes and failing in some, which pointed towards this direction (along with comment of a few online friends). I will be doing a 100 color note studies and see where it takes me. Off course, won't be putting these color note studies on this forum or any, unless I see a definite improvement and something that will benefit others, then I will put it up all 100 small thumb-nail studies and discuss it's benefits. I would suggest you check this book out. At first I did not get what he was saying, now I understand what Kevin was suggesting.
