Bison in Gouache Empty
PostSubject: Bison in Gouache   Bison in Gouache EmptySat Apr 19, 2014 3:03 pm

I have been painting almost non-stop ever since I got my new contact lens and while many paintings haven't made it for "show and tell", I'm gradually re-learning to paint! This is an American bison (buffalo) painted in gouache then varnished. It's the first buffalo I've ever done and I was pleased to have it come out this well.

Also working on a different method for making tile coasters from my art so have been really busy! Isn't anyone else painting?

Wow! This is one amazing Bison Jan, I love the hint of blue purple on the fur and various places… makes the fur very realistic yet painterly. You should be very happy at the outcome of this one… Smile

Thanks Faisal, this painting actually looks better in person as the scanner picked up every bump in the canvas and they really don't show like that in real life.

I have finally figured out how to take good pictures with my digital camera and have been consistently taking pictures the way I want.

Jan, You did a great job with this. Did you use some of the hints from that ebook you suggested. I got it and have looked at it a bit. I've been so busy with chorus lately that I haven't had time to paint. This weekend, I head up to Mesa, AZ for our regional competition. Once that is over, 'll e packing for for trip back east but I'm going to try to sneak some painting in. I'm glad your contact are working out so well for you.

Faisal, you'll have to share how to get good photos. I usually take photos instead of scanning but this was so small I stuck it into the scanner.

Thanks, Judy I was nearly finished with this when I got the e-book but did incorporate one of his tips about respecting the boundaries.

Chorus is also an artistic endeavor but I'm sure you'll be glad to get to paint again. Hope you have a good trip back this way!

Sure thing Jan, I would use my camera as an example, (it is a cheap camera). But it should be true for all the camera's. Please remind me in a months time if I haven't done so. I think this will be helpful to share with everybody.

Thanks

Faisal
