Here is the more impressionistic version of the lion. I used Skip Allan's Buttery Oils, medium bristle rough that I modified a little. Jan if you try the buttery oils, they only work on the canvas or over paint that has already been applied. If you want to do on a second layer, you have to fill it with white and then make it a "gel" composition so the white is transparent. this works great except if you try to paint a white spot. It will be transparent so you really have to do the lighters colors on a default layer. If you try any of the brushes and have a question, feel free to ask.

This is more impressionistic and still looks good. It's amazing what can be done with the digital tools, isn't it? I just wish more people understood the difference between digital painting and photo manipulation or so-called digital art. I'm not against any kind of digital playing around but I took so much flak and got so many nasty comments about my digital painting that I just want to emphasize the different aspects of digital work. You're lucky to be doing it in this day and age when it's more accepted (but not necessarily better understood!)

I doubt I'll try any digital painting as I have several paintings in the works right now that I need to finish but it's nice to know there are new digital brushes and most of all, some help, if I decide to try it again!

Good job on this one and I hope you'll do some more.

One thing I have been doing this winter is printing out out some of my paintings and them embellishing them with acrylics after sealing them with an acrylic spray. Sometimes the printing doesn't come out the exact colors I want, so I glaze with acrylics, or I add a few highlights or small details that I didn't do in the original. I haven't tried it with WSO, but I imagine that I could as long as I put multiple acrylic sealing layers on first. That might be my next project.

I'm sure it would work for WSO too, Judy and think it's a great idea. I can't think of his name but the "Painter of Light" artist would do that with his prints also.

Oh, have you tried printing on specially coated canvas first? My professional photographer sister does her photos that way and they look great. She stretches hers over stretcher bars so she doesn't have to frame them but I've been using all media canvas sheets and have "glued" them to hardboard that I've cut to size and prepped with primer and gesso and think that would work for your prints after you spray them also. I don't actually use glue but an acrylic medium to affix the canvas to the prepped board.

I cut my own hardboard but you could buy it already cut and prepared or use already made cradled hardboard.

Anyway, embellished prints sound like a winner to me. Keep us posted on how they do for you.
