Hi, my name is Nicki. I just bought a set of Winsor & Newton Artisan water solubles. I hadn't drawn or painted in about 15 years and when I saw that I could try oil painting at home (I would not use turps at home where there isn't proper ventilation). I've used acrylics but never oil.
I am certainly not a great artist but I believe art is for everyone and it can be as much about the creative process as the end result (for the artist). And I also think that practice is bound to help me get better Wink
I've been reading your posts and they have been a hugs help so far! Very interesting and valuable info. I love reading about everyone's experiences. Thanks for this forum!!!!

Hi Nicki and welcome! I think every artist is striving to improve their painting so I'm sure you'll fit right in here.

Have you had a chance to try your new paints yet? Oil works entirely different from acrylics but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it quickly. I think Watersolubleguy (Alan) uses the Artisan paints and will be able to help you out with any quirks you might come across.

Everyone here is very helpful and friendly so join right in wherever you can and please post some of your work in either acrylic or oil. There are different areas set up for the different media and we'd love to see your work.

Hi Nicki, Hi

We are so glad you took the time to introduce yourself. It is always so much fun to meet new people with an interest in WS Oils. There is a lot of information for you and if you have any questions, even if you think they may have been answered someplace else, please don't hesitate to ask up. We look forward to seeing you around the forum.

Hello Nicki,

Welcome!!!!!!. You need to put some paint on the canvas, the rest will happen in time. We all started at level zero and we have all progressed. The rule is simple the more you paint, the better you will get that is all… and the most important thing is ENJOY the process and don't be hard on yourself in the early stages… Just do it… Smile
