| Hello Guys, This painting was done in 100% traditional oil. My goodness it is so easy to use,… even better than holbein. I don't think you have to use Turps either. Any and all feedback are welcome… Size: 6"x8" Time: Too long | |

| What a great painting. I used to paint with traditional oils. What brand are you using? | |

| Hi Crystal,
I am using Rembrandt and Winsor Newton. But boy is it buttery and no struggle with layering or blending etc.
Thanks

| Wonderful, Faisal! I think this is really well done. I like the way you've shown the fuzzy fibers of the basket handle. The gold on the wine bottle label is perfect - it's usually hard to get a good gold. The shadow color on the clementines (?) is also perfect. The composition is great and the only thing I see is that round orange thing on the neck of the wine bottle label. It draws my attention by making me wonder what it is - I think it may be something on the label but it also seems part of the basket. Maybe making it less distinct would help. However, that's a very small thing in the overall perfectness of the painting.
I used to paint in traditional oils too and the way it handles depends on the brand of oils you use and also sometimes colors within the brand as some are stiffer than others. Hope you keep painting with the WSOs too.

| Wow! Jan… what a wonderful and detailed critique… . Thank you… Yes! the Orange on the bottle is distracting and the intensity should be knocked down. That is distracting… Actually I added that label, to tie it to the orange color of the oranges… , the original was more subtle and of a different color. I will use WSO sparsely,…, The traditional is awesome and wonderful.. they are too good. Faisal | |

| Jan's summary was right on. I didn't find the orange spot on the label distracting, though. I could see were it was essential for carrying the orange into other areas of the painting to unify it, including that tiny speck dead center in the painting. Perhaps as you suggested, just toning it down a little would help but I think you need it there.

| Also, I wanted to add that Judy is right about the orange label thingy - you do need it but I think it needs to be made less distracting and more like it's on the bottle.

| Funny. I loved Rembrandt and hated Winsor & Newton. Your paintings just keep getting better. | |
